Agartha For Dummies

I have read many books on the Hollow Earth subject but what makes this one so good is it's refreshing perspective. Written in a short story format, it doesn't try to oversell the concept or prove anything. The matter of fact, easy going style lends itself to an enjoyable read that concentrates more on the social and spiritual side of living inside the Earth than it does on the physical aspects.

Sure it gives you some history and facts interwoven into the story but has been dummied down for the simplistic learning levels and the lack of ability of the our civilization to think outside the box.

This Book Rings Truth!

Anyone with an interest with Hollow Earth and the exciting things happening inside (and outside) of our planet will appreciate the fine writing of this book. I have studied this subject at great length and am astounded at the accuracy, validation and new insights. Mariana's an expert writer and is shows with her effortless style. I couldn't put Agartha down and read is straight through. I hope it's read by millions. Please write a companion book soon.

Jennifer Serravallo is the best-selling author of the new Reading Strategies Book as well as other popular Heinemann titles, including Teaching Reading in Small Groups; Conferring with Readers (coauthored with Gravity Goldberg); and The Literacy Teacher's Playbook, Grades K - 2 and Grades 3 - 6. She is also the author of the Digital Campus Course Teaching Reading in Small Groups: Matching Methods to Purposes where you can watch dozens of videos of Jen teaching in real classrooms and engage with other educators in a self-guided course. Jen worked for eight years as a staff developer and national consultant at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project at Columbia University. Must Have...One of a Kind! Dream Come True for Anyone Who Teaches Reading!!!

This AMAZING, MUST HAVE, book is a dream come true for anyone who teaches reading. It is like no other book I've ever read or owned about literacy. Most books about teaching reading require plowing through lots of pages about the author's philosophy and practices before getting to the good stuff...the stuff you can use in the classroom tomorrow. This book is only the "good stuff!" ...from strugglers to gifted students...from pre emergent readers to Level Z readers..... You will find strategies you could walk in your classroom and use the day you receive your book. Every teacher, from classroom teachers to reading specialists to literacy coaches to tutors to home-school teachers, from pre serviice teachers to veteran teachers, will quickly and easily be able to find the strategies they need to teach the students in front of them. And the strategies will help readers at every level internalize skills necessary to read fiction and non fiction, to write and talk about reading, and to read and comprehend with deeper insight. The author, Jennifer Serravallo likens the book to a cookbook that the reader will hopefully outgrow someday, but I can't put it down. It will make you wish you wish it wasn't summer. The inviting, easy to find pages with lots of charts and practical tips will invite you to start tabbing pages, highlighting and organizing yourself for next year! In addition, it's the perfect gift for a teacher friend, or relative. I just ordered two copies for my soon to be teaching daughters. The Reading Strategies Book is BETTER than sliced bread.

I am a literacy coach and am so excited to use this book next year with teachers at my school. Here's why:

I love how Jennifer compares The Reading Strategies Book to a cookbook, It's a great analogy for the lessons in the book. This book does not need to be read cover to cover (although you can). You can determine goals based on formative assessment and turn to the chapter about that goal. She also suggests that you tweak lessons to make them your own, just as you would with a recipe. I do this a lot when I am cooking, but it sure is nice to have that lesson as a starting point! That is the beauty of this book.

The "Getting Started" section of the book is invaluable. Jennifer walks you through navigating the book, choosing goals for students, how the book might fit into your current literacy instruction, and supporting strategies with visuals.

I LOVE how this book is organized. Each chapter focuses on a goal for students. Within each chapter you will find 20-25 lessons with strategies to teach the skills needed for students to meet this goal.

Each lesson is beautiful organized (again with the organization!) and printed in color with visuals/charts. Within the margins, Jennifer indicates who this lesson is for (guided reading level, genre/text type, and skill). The lessons are short and sweet (on one page)--no crazy prep or planning needed. A teacher's dream.

I think this book should be a required text for college literacy courses and should be a welcome gift to new teachers when hired.

I could not recommend this book more highly. Jennifer Seravallo never disappoints!

Superb Design, Bargain Deal

The photography and layout in this book is absolutely beautiful. I have never seen a cook book laid out in such a clean, artistic manner. Each recipe has a large two pages of easy to understand photography and concise directions. The recipes in this book are diverse - ranging from meat, fish, pasta, and desserts - from many different cultures - Japanese, Mexican, Italian, etc. Some of the recipes are unusual and eye brow raising, however, it is always refreshing to see new ways to prepare your basic chicken noodle soup or ravioli dishes. The ease of use of this cook book is fantastic for students who want to eat healthily but do not want to dedicate all their time deciphering confusing and often lengthy directions. I took one star off the product because it may not suit beginner cooks who want or need in-depth instructions on how to prepare certain meals or desserts. Overall, this book is intuitive and full of easy yet interesting recipes that can be prepared by even the most culinarily challenged.

Not sure about you, but when I'm cooking, I love to be inspired and pictures really do the trick for me. The explanations are clear, to the point and the recipes quite easy.

I'm from France and I love cooking and I find that the recipes in most North American books use too much sugar and too much fat, but not in this book. It is an excellent book that will fuel your creativity for every day cooking. It is also a nice mix of recipes: some are more inspired from Asian cuisine some from French cuisine, etc.

I was also pleasantly surprised with the price of the book for the quality of the images/recipes.

I have been searching for a cookbook that is very easy to follow and inspires me to cook more and this cookbook does just that! It is easy to follow with great recipes and I am very happy I bought it! I was a tad impatient to wait for it through amazon prime plus I wanted to see it before buying so I went to Barnes and Nobel and they had it for $12 which was great and I fell in love immediately! FYI the other step by step books have the recipes that are in this book so you will be buying double of the recipes. This book covers all!

I read this book with great interest, not only from a parent’s perspective but as an individual that utilizes a lot of technology. I found this book to be well laid out, informative and full of useful hints. It is a quick read packed with helpful evaluation tools and warning signs – a must read for anyone “Plugged in”.

Not A Bad Voyage

Pennie Mae Cartawick did a pretty good job in writing a Sherlock Holmes short story. In this story, Sherlock and Watson are sailing to India for vacation when they stumble upon a murder on the cruise liner. Since it is a very short story, there is not enough time to build up suspense or confuse the reader on who committed the crime. Therefore, I feel this book will appeal more to a younger audience. But since I am still young at heart, I really enjoyed it.

A Twist Ending

It seems that Sherlock Holmes and Watson can’t even get away from murder when on vacation. On board a ship on the way to India three bodies are found, one after another. In this book we see Holmes and his legendary deductions at work. The reader tries to keep up with Homes and solve the crime with him. I found this a clever short story with a surprise twist at the end.

A must read for Sherlock Holmes fans. The author of this short story has remained true to the original literary Holmes and style of writing, while breathing fresh life into the character with new adventures. Three murders on board ship - but one doesn't make sense. Could a turtle be the murderer?

I perused this book's description and thought it looked like fun. I wasn't disappointed in that expectation. It's a light-hearted little story about a rather roguish adventurer just trying to earn a living. My only complaint is that the story is much shorter than I expected. That's my own fault; I didn't look at the number of pages before I downloaded the story and started reading. So I was anticipating a novel, and what I got was more like the first chapter of a novel. Actually, this story would make an excellent beginning for a larger book. I hope the author decides to move in that direction, because I do believe I would enjoy reading more of Vance Pickman's exploits. Thanks for a fun read, Mr. Ellington :-)
